Utility work near Straub Benioff Medical Center starts Monday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Construction near Straub Benioff Medical Center will close a portion of the far left lane of South King Street starting Monday.

The medical center said the partial closure is part of utility work for the center’s new parking building.

Work is expected to last about a month and is scheduled from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Construction will be done in two phases.

Phase one will be closest to Alapai Transit Center:

Phase two will be closer to the Straub Benioff Parking Building:

Kealamakai Street will remain open in both directions, and traffic controllers will help direct traffic during construction hours.

The sidewalk on the Diamond Head side of Kealamakai Street will also be closed during this time.

Pedestrians can use the Ewa side of the sidewalk of Kealamakai Street, closest to the Alapai Transit Center.

Patients and visitors to Straub Benioff should arrive at least 30 minutes before scheduled appointments in anticipation of potential delays.
