Police arrest suspect after Kalihi vehicle theft ends in crash

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Police have arrested a suspect accused of stealing a vehicle in Kalihi.

Police said the victim discovered the suspect inside his vehicle at about 6 a.m. Friday.

When confronted, the suspect allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and drove off in the vehicle. No one was injured.

A short time later, officers responded to a crash near the scene and determined one of the vehicles involved was the stolen car.

Police said the suspect was identified and a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery in the first degree and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in the first degree.
