Kai Lenny, Nathan Florence make waves in Red Bull Soapbox Race
LOS ANGELES (HawaiiNewsNow) – Professional surfers Kai Lenny and Nathan Florence did not need waves to make a big splash in California over the weekend.

The duo participated in the Red Bull Soapbox Race in Downtown Los Angeles.
Video of the event shows Lenny piloting a custom-built soapbox jet ski with Florence behind him on a mock surfboard.
They joined 32 thrill-seeking teams who made their way through the downhill course on Saturday, navigating turns and obstacles.

Lenny and Florence are official Red Bull athletes, meaning they were just there for fun with an honorary soapbox, not to officially compete.
And they made it through the course in 1 piece!
And while the soapbox racer may look like a real jet ski, no engines are allowed in this race.
