Surfer pronounced dead after becoming unresponsive in Hawaii Kai

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 75-year-old man died Sunday after becoming unresponsive while surfing in Hawaii Kai.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said crews responded around 10:23 a.m. to Keahole Street, where the surfer had been brought to shore by boat.

Paramedics administered advanced life support before transporting the man to a local hospital.

Police said the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators said the man became unresponsive while surfing, and there were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
