Contestants with Hawaii ties compete on new season of ‘Big Brother’

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two contestants on the upcoming season of CBS’s “Big Brother” have Hawaii ties.

Lyric Medeiros was announced as a cast member on Tuesday on the hit reality show’s Instagram account with a video of her hula dancing, saying “she is bringing that positive energy and ALOHA spirit.”

Mederios is known as a social media influencer on TikTok with over 600,000 followers. She is the daughter of 80s/90s pop star Glenn Medeiros.

She also spent time with Hawaii News Now as an intern.

Another cast member announced with Hawaii ties is MMA fighter Kamu Kirk, 32, who was born on the islands.

Both are set to appear on season 28, which begins this week.

Season 28 adds twists and a fun theme to the classic rules of the game.

Contestants will be ushered into a “time trip” themed version of the house, featuring rooms and competitions inspired by different decades.

The new season of “Big Brother” kicks off with a special 90‑minute premiere on Thursday, July 9, at 2 p.m. Hawaii Time, 8 p.m. ET/PT, on CBS and Paramount Plus.
