Man pulled from waters off Hawaii Kai
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man was pulled from the waters offshore of Hawaii Kai Thursday.

At about 5 p.m., the Honolulu Ocean Safety Department was alerted to a swimmer in distress offshore of an area commonly known as Spitting Caves in Portlock, Hawaii Kai.
Ocean Safety said a man had jumped into the water, injured his arm and was having trouble safely returning to shore.
Before first responders arrived, OSD said three bystanders deployed a personal-use rescue tube to the swimmer and helped him to shore.

Ocean Safety commended the bystanders for their swift actions and the coordinated efforts of all responders.
The department reminds the public that Spitting Caves is an extremely hazardous shoreline area with strong currents, powerful surf and dangerous ocean conditions.
OSD urges the public to exercise caution and avoid cliff jumping or swimming in hazardous conditions.
