Judge orders temporary halt to Kauai housing project

A Circuit Court judge ordered a pause on the construction of a 148-unit project on nearly 9.5 acres near Weliweli and Waikomo roads in Kōloa.
The proposal by developer SK Investors drew opposition from residents and community groups Friends of Māhāʻulepū and Save Kōloa, who said increased traffic and parking would overwhelm the area’s narrow rural roads and jeopardize emergency access.

The hold is pending an appeal of the Kauaʻi Planning Commission’s permit approval.
