Suspect in Kailua drive-by shooting charged

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 56-year-old man has been charged in connection with a road rage shooting in Kailua.

He was arrested Sunday night after an hours-long search.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the suspect was driving a white Ford van when he displayed a handgun and fired at another vehicle.

The 25-year-old male driver and 24-year-old female passenger were not injured, though police said a bullet struck their vehicle.

On Monday, the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney reclassified the case from attempted murder to first-degree terroristic threatening.

The 56-year-old suspect has been charged, and bail was set at $50,000.
