Information Society will be performing on June 27 at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu.

Paul Robb, a producer and songwriter for Information Society, joined us on HNN’s Sunrise Weekends to talk about 25 years of performing and how they’re connecting with older and younger fans.

“We’ve been very pleased that our crowds have been growing over the last five, six years and it’s been super satisfying for us. People bring their kids, they know the words to the song, especially the big hits like What’s on Your Mind and Walking Away. It’s been a great experience for us to be on the road with a new audience coming in.” Robb said.

Information Society started in Minneapolis in the mid ’80s and eventually skyrocketed with their track “Running,” considered one of the most influential electro/freestyle tracks of all time.

Robb said the band has traveled extensively since going on tour and has been to South America, Europe, and now Hawaii for the first time since 1991.

They also released notable hits including the 1988 breakout single “What’s on Your Mind (Pure Energy),” along with “Walking Away,” “Think,” and “Peace and Love, Inc.”

“I mean, we worked with a lot of great people on these videos, and it was, early MTV days, and it was very important to our career and that video (purge energy) in particular really popped on MTV.”

The concert starts at 8 p.m. and will feature The DEPECHE MODE.

“People who haven’t seen us in a while, which probably includes everyone in Hawaii, I think will be pleasantly surprised by what we’re going to bring to the stage.” Robb said.
