Crews move overturned firetruck blocking Highway 11 in Kau
KAU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaii County firetruck overturned in the Pahala area Friday morning, injuring one person.

The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m., around Highway 11 in Kau, west of Pahala, near mile marker 54, according to the Hawaii Police Department.
The roadway was temporarily closed to traffic in both directions as crews worked to move the large vehicle out of the way.
A blown tire caused the truck to turn on its side, according to initial reports from the scene.

The driver was initially taken to Kau Hospital before being transferred to Hilo Benioff Medical Center.
No word yet on the driver’s condition or if any other passengers were in the fire engine at the time of the crash.
