The 2026 Minors Division District III (Maui County) tournament kicked off Friday at the Lahaina Recreation Center Field and runs through Tuesday, June 30.

Maui Mayor Richard Bissen said this weekend’s games will represent more than just baseball.

“As Lahaina continues to heal, bringing this tournament back to West Maui is a meaningful reminder of our community’s resilience,” said Mayor Bissen. “After 18 years, our young athletes once again have the opportunity to play in their hometown, while welcoming families and visitors who support our local businesses and contribute to West Maui’s ongoing recovery.”

To get the field tournament ready, the county Parks and Recreation Department (DPR) made several upgrades, including fixing and building the pitching mound, weeding, and adding dirt to the infield.

“We are proud to provide the facilities that give Maui County’s young baseball players the opportunity to compete, grow, and advance to the state tournament level,” said DPR director Patrick McCall.

This weekend’s tournament is one of five Little League tournaments being held at county Department of Parks and Recreation facilities this summer.

The winner will advance to the Hawaii State Little League Minors Division Tournament on Hawaii Island in late July.
