The event is scheduled for July 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. and will mark the completion of the Front Street Railing and Walkway Project in Lahaina.
The project included repairs to approximately 1,450 feet of sidewalk and the replacement of about 700 feet of railing along the makai side of Front Street between Lahainaluna Road and Dickenson Street. New light poles, benches, bike racks and landscaping features were also installed.
“The completion of this project marks another important step forward in Lahaina’s recovery and the ongoing effort to bring commercial activity back to the heart of Lahaina town,” Mayor Richard Bissen said.
County officials said the project is part of broader efforts to restore and improve Front Street following the August 2023 wildfires. Previous work included repairs to the seawall, beach access areas and additional sections of sidewalk.

The blessing will be led by the County Department of Oiwi Resources and held in the 700 block of Front Street.
Due to ongoing road improvements, attendees are asked to park at the Lahaina Aquatic Center, where shuttle service to the event site will begin at 1:30 p.m.
County officials said the project was shaped by community input and designed to reflect Lahaina’s history, culture and character while supporting the town’s continued recovery.
