Firefighters contain wildfire in Makaha

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu Fire Department has contained a wildland fire in West Oahu.

The blaze was first reported at around 3:20 p.m. Saturday near the 84-700 block of Manuku Street, near Makaha Community Park.

Video near the area shows smoke billowing near the valley.

Crews arrived on scene just before 3:30 p.m. and immediately put water on the fire.

About an hour later, HFD said the fire was 75% contained and two acres were involved.

At around 5 p.m., crews said the fire was less than 100% contained.

Fire officials said no evacuations are needed at this time.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
