First Alert Forecast: Lots of sunshine and light to moderate trades Sunday
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Light to moderate trade winds are expected for Father’s Day Sunday with limited showers for windward and mauka areas.

Trade winds should build to breezier levels by midweek. A weak surface trough will increase trade showers late Tuesday into Wednesday, with another possible increase in showers Wednesday night into Friday as an upper-level low passes to the northwest.

It’s going to be a quiet weekend in surf. A small, medium-period south swell is on the way down, so waves will decline on south and exposed west shores. Surf will be tiny to flat for north shores, while east shores will remain small until midweek, when the trades increase.

Sunday is also the first full day of summer. The Summer Solstice is Saturday at 10:24 p.m.
