On June 10, court documents said Jesus Israel Black, 70, was found with severe facial injuries inside their Nalanui Street home.
He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died.
About an hour before Jesus Black was found, court documents said officers responding to a suspicious circumstances call encountered Joshua Black nearby.
Documents said he was covered in blood and “appeared to be having a possible mental health issue or was possibly under the influence of an unknown narcotic.”

Joshua Black was handcuffed and taken to Queen’s Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, and later charged with murder by warrant.
If convicted, Joshua Black faces life in prison.
Because his father was 70 years old, the court could impose a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, prosecutors said.
Black is currently being held without bail at the Honolulu Police Department cellblock.
