Attempted murder suspect appears in court for Hopaka Street shooting

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 28-year-old man accused of attempted murder made his first court appearance Tuesday in connection with an early-morning shooting on Hopaka Street.

TJ Tatashy was charged with attempted murder and firearm offenses stemming from an incident that occurred around 3:45 a.m. Sunday at Boda Cafe.

According to newly released court documents, a security guard told officers that Tatashy struck the victim with a bottle, tackled him to the ground, and reached into his pocket. About five seconds later, the guard said he heard a gunshot.

The 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his back, documents said.

A judge confirmed Tatashy’s bail at $300,000. He is due back in court on Thursday.
