Police shut down alleged illegal gambling operation in Waianae

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Police officers arrested one man and seized several items from an alleged illegal game room in Waianae Friday afternoon.

The Honolulu Police Department executed a search warrant at a property on Hoaha Street, where officers arrested a 40-year-old man for promoting gambling on a warrant from a prior investigation.

The arrest was made without incident, according to police.

Officers reportedly recovered illegal drugs, 23 gambling machines, and more than $8,000 in cash, all of which were submitted into evidence.

The search was conducted by HPD’s Narcotics/Vice Division Gambling Detail, with assistance from the Forfeiture Detail, Specialized Services Division, and Major Events Division.

“As our investigations progress, we continue to develop intelligence linking illegal gambling, narcotics, and other criminal enterprises,” said Maj. Jerome Pacarro, commander of the Honolulu Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Division. “This allows us to expand our reach and more effectively address criminal activity within our communities.”
