William “Billy” Sinclair, 51, of Kilauea, remains in custody after a judge increased his bail from $500,000 to $1.5 million following a review of evidence recovered during the investigation.

Sinclair was arrested on Monday, June 8, after a multi-day manhunt that ended in waters off Kapaa. He was initially arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder.

Investigators previously said the case began June 6 after officers responded to a suspicious death in Hanalei that was later classified as a homicide. During the investigation, police also linked Sinclair to a separate shooting incident in Kilauea that left one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot injury.
