The campaign ran from March 4 to May 8, with the goal of generating more than 600,000 meals for people in need.

“Far too many families, we are hearing over and over, have always been able to make the ends meet. They are working and they just can’t do it anymore,” said Hawaii Foodbank President and CEO Amy Miller.

Food insecurity remains a large concern in Hawaii, with nearly one in three families suffering every year.

“There’ll be parents that are going to sleep okay tonight, knowing that they have breakfast for their kids the next day before they go to school,” Miller said.

Hawaii foodbank donations will go toward their various summer hunger initiatives.
