Work begins on Daniel K. Inouye Highway after traffic emergency zone declared
HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) – Drivers on Hawaii Island should expect delays on parts of Daniel K. Inouye Highway, also known as Saddle Road, while crews work to reinforce the road’s safety.

Work will take place weekly, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., for about 30 days.
One lane is closed between mile posts 10 and 19.
Transportation crews are alternating traffic as they work to increase the pavement drainage capability and reduce the potential for hydroplaning.
