First Alert Forecast: Scattered trade wind showers Monday as winds ease slightly

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A band of moisture will bring an increased chance of showers Monday, mainly Kauai and Oahu. The showers will focus on the usual windward and mauka areas. Periodic trade showers are expected for the rest of the state through the week.

Trade winds may become light enough toward the weekend to allow for afternoon clouds and pop-up showers, but no organized rainmakers are in the forecast for the foreseeable future.

A new south swell will push waves into head-high territory but still high surf advisory criteria as it peaks late Monday and Tuesday. There’s a First Alert for a more significant swell that could bring advisory-level waves next Sunday.

Elsewhere, small background swells are expected for north and west shores. East shore waves will decline through the week as the trade winds ease.
