Pahoa man charged in fatal Hawaii Island motorcycle crash
HAWAII ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Pahoa man has been charged in connection with a fatal traffic collision that killed a motorcyclist.

Police said Kade Smith,36, faces five charges including first-degree negligent homicide and operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.
According to investigators, Smith was driving east on Kahakai Boulevard on Wednesday when he attempted to turn left onto Niuhi Street and collided with a motorcycle operated by Korey Palmerton.

Palmerton was transported to Hilo Benioff Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.

Smith was arrested following the investigation and charged Friday.
His bail has been set at $553,050.
The crash remains under investigation.
