2 brush fires near Makaha Beach fully contained

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Firefighters contained two brush fires that broke out near Mākaha Beach on Tuesday evening.

Honolulu police said District 8 officers responded around 6 p.m. to reports of multiple brush fires and notified nearby homeowners while the Honolulu Fire Department worked to contain the flames.

HFD incident logs show one fire near Farrington Highway and Makau Street and a second near 83-998 Farrington Highway.

The first fire was reported just before 6 p.m. and was declared 100% contained shortly before 9 p.m. The second was reported about 10 minutes later and was fully contained shortly after 8 p.m.

No evacuations, injuries or damage were immediately reported.

The cause of the fires has not been released.
