2 boaters injured after vessel hits submerged object near Molokini
MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two boaters were injured after their vessel struck a submerged object near Molokini Crater Tuesday morning.

Maui firefighters were called to the area around 5:13 a.m. for a roughly 20-foot sport fishing boat that was listing heavily.
When Rescue Boat 10 arrived, crews found one boater still aboard the vessel and another on the eastern tip of Molokini islet.
Firefighters determined the boat was still operable and transferred the first man onto the rescue boat before retrieving the second.

Officials said one man, believed to be in his 50s, suffered a leg injury. The other man, believed to be in his 70s, suffered injuries to his torso.
Both men received medical care while being taken to Kihei Boat Ramp.
They were then transferred to EMS and taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.

Both boaters are Maui residents.
