HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 59-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle in Kalihi on May 26.<\/p>\n

At about 6:30 a.m., a non-traffic motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the private parking lane of a business in the Kalihi area.<\/p>\n

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department that a 55-year-old man was attempting to park his car in a private parking lane adjacent to a business when he struck a 59-year-old pedestrian who was lying on the roadway within the parking lane.<\/p>\n

As a result of the collision, the 59-year-old pedestrian was transported to an area hospital in good condition.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old driver remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Honolulu Police Department was notified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner\u2019s Office that the 59-year-old man, a pedestrian involved in this collision, had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n

At this time, speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be a contributing factor to this collision.<\/p>\n

This is the second non-traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 0 at this same time in 2025.<\/p>\n
