This is nothing different and just win each pitch,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI remember thinking just bat straight to ball, like I wasn\u2019t trying to hit a home run.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>McClinton scored a team-high 57 runs this season and was named to the All-Big West First Team for a second straight year.<\/p>\n<p>She said her love of the game was instilled early by her family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was two months old when my parents were playing slow pitch in Keolu Park in Kailua so I mean I was always kind of a park rat, grew up at the park, they\u2019re just big, big sports people,\u201d said McClinton.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=834\">The Long Game: St. Louis football head coach Tupu Alualu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After an exceptional run at Kamehameha Kapalama, McClinton headed to Biola University before transferring to Fullerton, where she became the Titans\u2019 first Hawaii-born softball player.<\/p>\n<p>Next year, McClinton said she plans to play in the Mexico Pro League from January to March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt first I was kind of like, \u2018Oh I\u2019ll see, I\u2019d be really happy to finish at Fullerton here,\u2019 but my mindset switched and I\u2019m just like, if you have the opportunity than why not do it,\u201d said McClinton.<\/p>\n<p>McClinton also discovered a passion for jewelry-making, and hopes to grow it beyond a hobby.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to go back home and maybe like start learning how to ship and create my own website, because as of right now, I just have an Instagram but I\u2019d love to hopefully grow my business,\u201d said McClinton.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=833\">Pedestrian seriously injured after late-night collision in Waianae<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to support her creations, click here.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>McClinton\u2019s talents extend far beyond the softball field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":837,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-838","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
