The \u02bbBows defeated the Anteaters in four sets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t have a perfect team, we didn\u2019t have a perfect season, but it absolutely had a perfect ending,\u201d said head coach Charlie Wade.<\/p>\n<p>Wade expressed his gratitude at the celebration and thanked die-hard fans for sticking with the \u2018Bows even after they fell in the Big West Title match.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe had a lot throughout the season,\u201d he said. \u201cThese guys faced every adversity and got stronger and stronger as the season went on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That resilience led the bows to victory against Irvine on Monday and earned them praise from the city and state\u2019s highest offices.<\/p>\n<p>University officials said the event at the Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center was also a celebration for fans who followed the team throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to say this to you from all the people of Hawaii, after tough times, you really lifted us up,\u201d said Gov. Josh Green. <\/p>\n<p>Mayor Rick Blangiardi made an official proclamation declaring May 13 as Rainbow Warrior Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to acknowledge the genius of Charlie Wade, three national banners gets you that,\u201d Blangiardi said.<\/p>\n<p>UH president Wendy Hensel and first-year athletics director Matt Elliott heaped praise on the bows, saying the national title proves how important UH sports are to the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe keep saying it, our slogan, \u2018Our Team Hawaii\u2019s Team,\u2019 but it\u2019s not just a slogan because when you won this entire state stood up and screamed and you made us so proud,\u201d Hensel said.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Elliot praised the \u2018Bows and said, \u201cPeople talk about money resources, media, maybe we don\u2019t have everything those schools have, but we don\u2019t care. We don\u2019t care because we have Tread, Kristian, Louis, Justin, Travell, Adrien and every one of these guys up here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another fan favorite, tournament MVP and outside hitter Louis Sakanoko pumped up the UH faithful, promising this won\u2019t be the last volleyball title in M\u0101noa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBig mahalo to everyone, and we\u2019re gonna get another chip next year for sure,\u201d Sakanoko said.<\/p>\n<p>Setter Tread Rosenthal added, \u201cJust like Louis said, we want another championship, so cheers to next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>For some Rainbow Warrior fans, their favorite part of the night was getting autographs from their favorite players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to remember they\u2019re students. Some of them, they don\u2019t have their families here, so that\u2019s why we\u2019re here,\u201d said Mela Gracia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess it\u2019s the camaraderie. You can see the teamwork.
