Group competition begins Friday.<\/p>\n<p>These young but dedicated dancers took the stage for the title of Master and Miss Keiki Hula.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, two winners came out on top:<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Miss Keiki Hula 2026 is Kiliohu Kahualaulea Celebrado, 9, of Maui\u2019s H\u0101lau Kekuaokal\u0101\u02bbau\u02bbala\u02bbiliahi.<\/p>\n<p>Master Keiki Hula hails from H\u0101lau Hi\u02bbiakain\u0101makalehua, Lahiki Bareng, 8.<\/p>\n<p>Hawaii News Now spoke with the winners as they shared their love for hula and for the mele they danced.<\/p>\n<p>Bareng said what he loves about hula is being able to \u201cdance with our hearts out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that hula is \u201ca hard sport, so if you wanna do it, make sure you commit to the work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s been dancing for his halau for two years.<\/p>\n<p>Kahualaulea has been at her halau for six years and dedicated her performance to Molokai, where her family is from.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt feels so great to be Miss Keiki Hula, the new Miss Keiki Hula. I feel so blessed and so honored,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3018\">Former Kauai resident indicted on fentanyl trafficking charge<\/a><\/p>\n<p>These two halau also produced the top two finishers in the Miss Aloha Hula competition at Merrie Monarch.<\/p>\n<p>Kumu hula Brandon \u2018Iliahi Paredes said last year was Kahualaulea\u2019s first year dancing in the Keiki Hula competition and they saw a spark in her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis light that just came through her; her dancing was natural. [Her] expressions were just beautiful and captivating. And from last year we knew we wanted to run her for the Miss Kakihula soloist for this year, and she worked so hard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Faith Kealoha Pauole Paredes, who is Kiliohu\u2019s hula sister, is the reigning Miss Aloha Hula.<\/p>\n<p>She said it\u2019s the older hula brothers and sisters\u2019 responsibility to help guide the keiki and build their confidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of our responsibility in halau during practice is to help each and every one of those students, help them with their hand placement, with their foot placements, and just their overall confidence because that\u2019s truly is our kuleana as older hula dancers,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She was followed by first runner-up, Keoe Momilani Michiko Hoe, who is Kumu Keano\u2019s \u02bb\u014dlapa.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3017\">Police arrest suspect after Kalihi vehicle theft ends in crash<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Group competition will be live on K5 at 6 p.m., or streaming online here.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Group competition for the 51st Annual Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition and Festival is set to begin Friday at the Neal S.
