{"id":3018,"date":"2026-07-24T23:34:44","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T23:34:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3018"},"modified":"2026-07-24T23:34:44","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T23:34:44","slug":"former-kauai-resident-indicted-on-fentanyl-trafficking-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3018","title":{"rendered":"Former Kauai resident indicted on fentanyl trafficking charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<section>\n<p>HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; A former Kauai resident has been indicted in federal court on a charge of possessing fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office for the District of Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3017\">Police arrest suspect after Kalihi vehicle theft ends in crash<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dakota Ianniello, 55, who formerly lived on Hanapepe, Kauai, was indicted on Thursday after being arrested in the Western District of Wisconsin on Tuesday for possessing fentanyl with intent to distribute.<\/p>\n<p>Federal authorities say the case stems from a May 23, 2025, search, when law enforcement executed a warrant on Ianniello\u2019s vehicle and seized about 81.5 grams of fentanyl. <\/p>\n<p>After her arrest in July of this year, investigators said Ianniello admitted the fentanyl seized in May 2025 belonged to her, that she knew it was fentanyl, and that she distributed fentanyl to others.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=3016\">Maui Raiders fan gets surprise of a lifetime for 40th birthday<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>If convicted, Ianniello could face up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $5 million, and at least four years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<p>The Drug Enforcement Administration is investigating the case with assistance from the Kauai Police Department, according to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office.
