Tyler James Feehan, 25, who is listed as being from Ewa Beach, Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hawaiimovinginsider.com\/?p=2839\">Tiger shark spotted off Kakaako Waterfront<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The other soldier killed was Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, with the 10th Army Air Missile Defense Command in Ansbach, Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Both were killed on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in attacks that occurred Friday, July 17. The military said Gonzales died that day and Feehan died on Saturday; no other details were provided.<\/p>\n<p>They are the first U.S. troop deaths from direct Iranian fire since the war began.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Feehan\u2019s background and military service<\/h2>\n<p>Feehan was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and belonged to the 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. <\/p>\n<p>He was born and raised in Utah, but was living in Kapilina Beach Homes on Oahu when he joined the Hawaii Army National Guard in 2019 at age 18.<\/p>\n<p>He later enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard and was subsequently commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army.<\/p>\n<h2>Congressional delegation responds<\/h2>\n<p>U.S. Rep. Ed Case, who represents the Ewa Beach area, said Feehan showed a commitment to service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, from a very early age, felt the need to serve our country. Tyler James Feehan of \u02bbEwa Beach, who gave his life while serving our country,\u201d said U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz. \u201cMy thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and fellow soldiers as they grieve this unimaginable loss. May his memory be a blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cToday, my thoughts and aloha are with 1st Lt. Feehan\u2019s family, and the families of all the brave servicemembers killed and injured in this war.\u201c said U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono. \u201dAs we honor their service and sacrifice, I remain committed to doing everything in my power to bring an end to this war.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, our \u02bbohana and the entire nation mourn Tyler and Isabella, two young Americans taken far too soon while serving our country,\u201d said U.S. Rep. Jill Tokuda. \u201cWe hold their families, friends, and fellow servicemembers close in our hearts. Every life lost is one too many, and we must keep fighting to end this war and bring our troops home safely.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Flags fly at half-staff<\/h2>\n<p>Gov.\u00a0Josh\u00a0Green\u00a0ordered the United States flag and the Hawaii state flag to be flown at half-staff at all state offices and agencies, as well as the Hawaii National Guard, through sunset on Wednesday, July 22, in honor of Feehan. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst Lt. Feehan served our nation with courage and made the ultimate sacrifice,\u201d Green said in statement. \u201cHis death is a painful reminder of the human cost of war. Hawaii mourns alongside them and will always remember his bravery and selfless service.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2>Posthumous honors<\/h2>\n<p>Feehan will be posthumously promoted to the rank of captain.
