HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Filipino home bakery is serving the community through food and faith, one baked good at a time. <\/p>\n

Anna Marie Yi and John Yi, who are husband and wife as well as co-owners of His Fellow Bakery, joined us on HNN\u2019s Sunrise Weekends to showcase their handmade Hopia, heart-shaped cookies, cupcakes, and seasonal desserts located in Hoopili, Kapolei. <\/p>\n

The businesses began through Inspire Church\u2019s Bake a Blessing ministry and grew from a desire to serve the community through food, faith, and fellowship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat happens is Bake a Blessing gets individual bakers within the church community and we bake cakes and cupcakes and push them out,\u201d John Yi said. <\/p>\n

Places they\u2019ve baked for include Hawaii\u2019s youth correctional facility and the youth shelter. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat sets us really apart is our roots and our Christian foundation and our faith. It\u2019s with God\u2019s love and Aloha that we bake all of our baked goods with,\u201d John Yi said. <\/p>\n

Many recipes are rooted in family traditions, including the green onion hopia recipe passed down from Anna\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n

His Fellow Baker can be found at Hoopili farmers markets on first Mondays, second Fridays, and third Thursdays along with other community events in Kapolei.<\/p>\n
