HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – You\u02bbll feel the winds this morning, but they\u02bbll start to back off this afternoon. Add to that drier conditions meaning sunny days with a drier air mass. We\u2019re not expecting any big rain systems to move in anytime soon, so expect these dry, lighter winds that may pickup to be moderate by midweek thru till the weekend.<\/p>\n

Lighter winds starting tomorrow afternoon with drier conditions. There\u2019s not much moisture in the air right now any showers that do happen will be light and possibly in the afternoons. We\u2019re not seeing any rain systems heading our way in the next 5-7 days.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a tropical disturbance forming way out in the Pacific near Mexico that we\u2019re keeping an eye on. In about a week and a half, it might<\/i> head toward Hawaii, but it\u2019s way too early to know for sure\u2014some weather models don\u2019t even bring it close to us. The bottom line? Right now, the waves are normal for summer. But get ready\u2014a bigger swell is later today through early next week that could bring really advisory level waves Monday and Tuesday. After that dies down, another south swell will arrive Thursday and keep the waves up through the weekend.<\/p>\n

Tonight and this weekend, the water will be choppy out east but will calm down as the week goes on. Around the middle of next week, a tropical storm (Tropical Storm Elida) might send some energy our way and bump up the waves a bit on the East side. Later in the week, as the winds pick back up, the waves will get bigger again.<\/p>\n
