KAUA\u02bbI (HawaiiNewsNow) – A 10-day festival is celebrating Kaua\u02bbi\u2019s first sugar plantation, established in K\u014dloa in 1835, and those who worked on it.<\/p>\n

K\u014dloa Plantation Days kicked off Friday, July 17, and runs through Sunday, July 26, at various locations in the south-shore community.<\/p>\n

The festival\u02bbs opening ceremony and p\u0101\u02bbina starts at 5 p.m. at K\u014dloa Village and features a blessing, hula and live music by Kawai and Jonah Pascua.<\/p>\n

The festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the theme \u201cThe Last Harvest,\u201d and offers a variety of events, including guided walking tours, a heritage craft fair and culinary market, and keiki activities.<\/p>\n

Most events are free and open to the public; others require registration or an admission fee.<\/p>\n
