HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A ride on the Skyline will help support local youth programs across Hawaii.<\/p>\n

The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii said $1 will be donated to the organization for every Skyline ride taken on Monday, May 18, benefiting programs for local children and teens. <\/p>\n

The effort is part of Great Futures Day, a statewide initiative marking the club\u2019s 50 years of service.<\/p>\n

Officials said the donation campaign was made possible through support from John and Lori Katahira.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat Futures Day is about coming together as a community to support our youth,\u201d said Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii President and CEO Paddy Kauhane. \u201cThis initiative makes it easy for everyone to participate \u2014 simply by taking a ride, you\u2019re helping invest in the next generation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Great Futures Day events will also be held May 20 at Boys & Girls Club locations across Oahu and Kauai, featuring lemonade stands, games, performances and other youth-led activities highlighting leadership and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

As part of its 50th anniversary campaign, the club is encouraging 40,000 donors to give $40 each to help fund programs focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles and character development.<\/p>\n
