HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – An iconic \u201980s electropop act is returning to the stage with a show aimed at longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.<\/p>\n

Information Society will be performing on June 27 at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu. <\/p>\n

Paul Robb, a producer and songwriter for Information Society, joined us on HNN\u2019s Sunrise Weekends to talk about 25 years of performing and how they\u2019re connecting with older and younger fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been very pleased that our crowds have been growing over the last five, six years and it\u2019s been super satisfying for us. People bring their kids, they know the words to the song, especially the big hits like What\u2019s on Your Mind and Walking Away. It\u2019s been a great experience for us to be on the road with a new audience coming in.\u201d Robb said.<\/p>\n

Information Society started in Minneapolis in the mid \u201980s and eventually skyrocketed with their track \u201cRunning,\u201d considered one of the most influential electro\/freestyle tracks of all time.<\/p>\n

Robb said the band has traveled extensively since going on tour and has been to South America, Europe, and now Hawaii for the first time since 1991.<\/p>\n

They also released notable hits including the 1988 breakout single \u201cWhat\u2019s on Your Mind (Pure Energy),\u201d along with \u201cWalking Away,\u201d \u201cThink,\u201d and \u201cPeace and Love, Inc.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, we worked with a lot of great people on these videos, and it was, early MTV days, and it was very important to our career and that video (purge energy) in particular really popped on MTV.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert starts at 8 p.m. and will feature The DEPECHE MODE.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople who haven\u2019t seen us in a while, which probably includes everyone in Hawaii, I think will be pleasantly surprised by what we\u2019re going to bring to the stage.\u201d Robb said.<\/p>\n
