HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway were closed for several hours Friday after officials said an excavator hit the Aala Street overpass.<\/p>\n

The incident was reported at 10:45 a.m. and initially closed three lanes.<\/p>\n

Officials said an excavator on a flatbed truck hit the overpass, sending concrete onto the freeway lanes below.<\/p>\n

Wahiawa resident Anna Xayphengsy saw it happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to brake hard, but luckily the cars ahead of me and my car were able to avoid direct damage from the debris. There were two motorcycle police officers that had just rode past and they saw what happened and helped pull over excavator truck right away,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

No one was hurt.<\/p>\n

Westbound traffic backup was heavy through the Punahou area until the lanes were reopened at around 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
