HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two people died, and four people were injured on Friday after a head-on crash on Daniel K. Inouye Highway.<\/p>\n

The Hawaii Island Police Department reported the highway was closed in both directions between the 13 and 14 mile markers at about 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

The public was advised to avoid the area for several hours due to a vehicle collision and police investigation.<\/p>\n

Sources confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition by an American Medical Response vehicle.<\/p>\n

A Hawaii County ambulance transported three others in serious condition to Hilo Benioff Medical Center.<\/p>\n
