HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Expect light winds coming from the northeast with some scattered clouds and a few isolated showers, mainly on the windward side of the islands. If you\u2019re on the leeward side, you might see a couple of showers pop up in the afternoons near the mountains, but nothing major.<\/p>\n

Everywhere is pretty dry except for a few scattered clouds and isolated showers along the eastern shorlines. A high-pressure system sitting northeast of the islands is keeping winds light to moderate from the northeast. Later this morning, sea breezes might pop up on the western side of some islands. Overall, today will be mostly dry with limited clouds and showers. The Big Island might see a slight bump in afternoon showers on the southern slopes of Mauna Loa as sea breezes develop.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow: The high-pressure system will move in and strengthen the trade winds to moderate levels. Moisture will push across the western islands, bringing a brief period of increased showers. By late Monday, that moisture moves out and things dry up again. Then Tuesday thru Friday: The high-pressure system will be strong, which means tighter pressure gradients and windier conditions (moderate to breezy). A weather trough will slowly move across the islands from east to west, enhancing shower activity. An upper-level low will also move in from the north, which could add to the rain chances. Bottom line: expect it to be wetter and windier midweek.<\/p>\n
