KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Kauai Police Department is warning the public about gasoline thefts.<\/p>\n

Hawaii News Now recently reported a rise in gasoline thefts, leaving Kauai drivers with costly repairs and rattled nerves.<\/p>\n

Police said these gas thefts have been performed by either siphoning or drilling into the fuel tanks of vehicles.<\/p>\n

The department previously said there have been about 20 reports of gasoline theft island-wide over the past three months.<\/p>\n

KPD encourages the public to:<\/p>\n

Police said to report suspicious persons or vehicles observed lingering near parked vehicles, especially during the night, at (808) 241-1711.<\/p>\n
