HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Episode 49 of lava fountaining in Halema\u02bbuma\u02bbu began at the summit of Kilauea. <\/p>\n

Fountaining began at 9:32 a.m. on Sunday. <\/p>\n

Scientists said the start of the episode was marked by a rapid increase in summit tremor along with ongoing summit deflation.<\/p>\n

Lava fountains were measured at approximately 50 to 75 feet high shortly after the episode began.<\/p>\n
