HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Molokai woman is working with volunteers to get even more pet food to the island after a successful 200-pound delivery on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Maraya Pierro, founder of the nonprofit Rescue Kitties of Hawaii, moved to Molokai from Oahu to address the limited pet services on the island.<\/p>\n

She said since the March Kona low storms, the need for pet food and care has been constant.<\/p>\n

After rescue groups and charities chipped in to help, Maraya said thousands of pounds have been delivered since the storms.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really humbling to see so many people come together so fast, and it truly is making an impact for this island,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s gonna make such a difference just as it did on the last ones. So it\u2019s a blessing, a true blessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nonprofit said another 700 pounds is scheduled for delivery Saturday, and volunteers will distribute pet food to Molokai residents and animal owners.<\/p>\n

Maraya said the best way to help with transportation is to donate to Aloha Aviators for fuel costs.<\/p>\n

To help animals in need on Molokai, Rescue Kitties of Hawaii created a Linktree and asks that donations be labeled \u201cMolokai.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nonprofit said 100% of cash donations go to the animals. <\/p>\n

They also created an Amazon wishlist for pet food. <\/p>\n

Rescue Kitties of Hawaii said it is the only resuce on Molokai helping all animals in need, and its volunteers are primarily lifelong Molokai residents.<\/p>\n
