Pedestrian seriously injured after late-night collision in Waianae

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Waianae late Sunday night.

The Honolulu Police Department said the unidentified motorist was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway when it made a right turn into the Waianae Mall, hitting the 37-year-old man.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing the mall entrance driveway in a marked crosswalk.

The unidentified motorist continued driving into the mall parking lot without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the crash, the pedestrian was transported by Honolulu Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital in serious condition.

Police said it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part. Investigation is currently ongoing.

At this time, speed does not appear to be a factor.
