According to court documents, doctors have deemed Penn mentally fit to stand trial.
The 47-year-old is accused of assaulting his mother last summer, claiming his family members were replaced by “imposters.”

Penn sat silent in court Friday as Penn’s attorney said he planned to file motions to dismiss Penn’s charges of abuse and violating his mother’s restraining order.

He faced a penalty of jail time if he had opted out again.
Penn is expected back in court on July 8.
