HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Nice and refreshing trade wind Thursday with swift winds.

Breezy trade winds continue today across the islands, keeping clouds and passing showers focused mainly over windward and mauka communities. Those locally breezy trades will gradually ease heading into the weekend as a developing low pressure system far north of the state weakens the ridge supporting our winds.
As the winds relax, sea breezes are expected to develop each afternoon this weekend, shifting clouds and a few showers toward island interior areas during the warmest part of the day, while nights favor clearer and more comfortable conditions near the coasts.
Looking ahead to early next week, deeper tropical moisture is forecast to move up from the southeast, increasing rain chances especially for the eastern end of the state Monday into Tuesday. Trade winds should begin strengthening again by the middle of next week, returning us to a more typical pattern with passing windward and mauka showers.

Overall, no major flooding concerns are expected, but residents should be prepared for occasional brief downpours in the usual windward spots and a few afternoon interior showers over the weekend
