UH started the game strong with a field goal by Sean Olvera-Harle and a touchdown after quarterback Micah Alejado found wide receiver Titan Lacaden.

The ‘Bows defense kept New Mexico out of the end zone, ending the half 10-0.

However, New Mexico came alive in the second half and scored 21 unanswered points. Fourteen of them came in the fourth quarter.

With just over two minutes left in the game, the ‘Bows were picked off during their final drive.

Alejado completed 23 of 40 attempts for 250 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

The ‘Bows fall to 1-6 on the season, and 0-4 in conference play.

“Well fought, hard played game, that’s a really good team on that other side, well coached and the guys gave them all that they could handle,” Head coach Timmy Chang said. “Just a few more plays were made on that side of the ball and so, the result is losing by 11.”

Up next, UH heads to DeKalb, Illinois, to face the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday, Oct. 24. Coverage on K5 starts at 9 a.m. or streaming on the Mountain West+ app.
