Gov. Green, military leaders honor fallen service members at Memorial Day ceremony
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Community members gathered Monday to honor those who died in military service during the governor’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.

Gov. Josh Green hosted the ceremony alongside state and military leaders, veterans organizations and members of Hawaii’s congressional delegation at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
This year’s theme was “Malama i ko lakou hooilina — Preserve Their Legacy.”
The event featured performances by the 111th Army Band of the Hawaii Army National Guard, along with a parade of flags and lei presentations from veterans groups, community leaders and international partners.
Gov. Green delivered the Memorial Day address while Hawaii Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Stephen Logan provided welcoming remarks.

The ceremony also included wreath presentations at the Memorial Plaza Monument by state leaders, Hawaii’s congressional delegation and military commanders representing each branch of service.
A rifle salute by the Hawaii National Guard Honor Guard and the sounding of “Taps” concluded the observance.
Officials said the annual ceremony serves as a time to remember and honor the sacrifices of service members and preserve their legacy for future generations.
