2026 Na Wahine O Ke Kai race from Molokai to Oahu canceled due to weather

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Some events that were scheduled to take place this week in Hawaii are being canceled ahead of an incoming storm.

The 2026 Na Wahine O Ke Kai race was set to take place Sunday, Sept. 27, however, organizers called off the event Tuesday morning.

The canoe race was supposed to kick off Sunday morning from Hale O Lono on Molokai and wrap up on Oahu at Duke’s Beach.

The Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association announced that the potential wind and ocean impacts required them to put the safety and well-being of their race community first.

The OHCRA added that their decision does not reflect the paddlers’ ability to cross the Kaiwi channel.
