Live opossum captured at Honolulu Harbor
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A live opossum was spotted at a freight transporting facility at Honolulu Harbor on Saturday.

Matson employees saw the opossum on their property at Honolulu Harbor and notified the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity’s Plant Quarantine Branch.
Inspectors set out traps in the area baited with cat food and apples.
On Sunday, the opossum was found inside one of the traps.
Officials searched the surrounding area and found no other opossums.
The opossum was humanely euthanized and a tissue sample was sent to the mainland for rabies testing.
