‘Bows are Ninth Island bound for first road trip of the season

The ‘Bows are spending the weekend in the desert for the Lucky Aces Invitational.

“I think it’s really cool that we get to go and travel our first away tournament and just show everybody else around the country and just see what we’re doing and show them what we’ve been working on,” said middle blocker Rachel Purser.

A journey that comes just as Hawaii is hitting its stride, getting five straight wins — the program’s longest streak since 2023.

Three of those victories have come in straight sets.

Their endurance will be tested as they get ready for three matches in three days.

The ‘Bows are set to face Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Iowa State, and perennial power UCLA.

“Trying to make sure that you’re taking care of all you need to do time wise, schedule wise it’s everything like our schedule’s pretty tight on the road we have an itinerary and all that, so we know what we’re doing hour by hour,” said head coach Joshua Walker. “For them, it’s making sure that they’re maximizing the time that they’re doing there.”

This comes just in time for the start of conference play as Hawaii opens the Mountain West slate next week.

All of the games will be broadcast on K5; match one against the Islanders begins Friday at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
