Unity Bowl to unite football teams from wildfire-ravaged communities

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two high school football teams from communities devastated by wildfires will come together for a special game.

Lahainaluna High School will host California’s Paradise High School in the Unity Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Sue D. Cooley Stadium.

The game’s theme is “Two Towns, One Spirit.”

Organizers said the matchup is meant to bring together two communities connected by tragedy and resilience.

Paradise was devastated by the 2018 Camp Fire, while Lahaina was struck by the deadly August 2023 wildfire.

The Unity Bowl was created through a partnership between Paradise Athletic Director Jerry Cleek, longtime Punahou Athletic Director and coach Doug Bennett, and Lahainaluna Athletic Director Jonathan Conrad.
